Purvis baptizes defender, speaks on it
Capping off a 38-point effort with the game-winning shot over Flora MacDonald (Red Springs, N.C.), 2012 Upper Room (Raleigh, N.C.) guard Rodney Purvis says he’s dunking on anyone in his path.
“God blessed me with jumping ability, so I’m going to use it — no matter who’s jumping with me or who’s under the rim.”
- Rodney Purvis
Harrell stands out at Battle of the Classes
Montrezl Harrell can be really quiet off the court, but Sunday, his game spoke as loudly as one can speak. The 2012 forward capped off a monstrous effort with a between the legs dunk that put an explanation point in the win for his North Carolina team at the Battle of the Classes at Waddell (Charlotte, N.C.) on Sunday. His effort won him the MVP.
The Battle of the Classes pits some of the top talent in North Carolina and South Carolina against one another in three different games. Sindarius Thornwell (2013, S.C.) and Jervon Pressley (2011, N.C.) won the other MVP awards in their games.
My total recap of the event is here.
Also, be sure to check out the highlights from the boys at Court Cred. It’s unfortunate no one in the gym captured Trez’s first two alleys on film. One of them was disgusting.

Anthony Davis commits to UK
Numerous outlets have confirmed that Chicago star Anthony Davis has committed to Kentucky coach John Calipari.
Davis, one of the top prospects in the class of 2011, is a 6-foot-10 forward who went from unknown to known in a span of a summer after growing about six inches over the last year or so.
Davis joins Michael Gilchrist and Marquis Teague, giving the Wildcats three of the top players in the class.
