Goodwin To Sign Late
Shaq Goodwin announced last week via his twitter that he was Memphis bound. Now it looks like those plans might be hold until the spring. The 6-foot-10 forward from Atlanta, Georgia will not sign with Memphis during the early period, but is still a verbal commit.
“Shaq is committed to Memphis but we’ve decided to wait until after the season to sign the scholarship papers,” Goodwin’s mother told the AJC. “As you can imagine, this is a life-changing decision for my son, and we want to make sure that he has fully considered his options and done all of the necessary research before it’s official. He really likes Memphis, as does the rest of our family. We had a really good visit to Memphis, and we are very impressed with Coach Pastner, the team, and the university. Memphis is a special place.
With Goodwin not signing in the early period this obviously leaves it open for schools like Georgia and UCLA to still recruit him. Shaq is scheduled to visit Memphis once again, along with UCLA at sometime and I’m sure being close to home he will visit Georgia once again before the spring.
Whether or not Goodwin allows is up to him. I said during last weeks podcast (you can list here) that at the end of the day I think Goodwin stays with his commit and signs with Memphis.
