Georgia Tech Lands Local Standout Marcus Hunt
Georgia Tech has landed its second commitment from the rising senior class in Georgia. Marcus Hunt, a 6-foot-5 swingman from North Clayton High School, picked the Yellow Jackets over the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech. In a year where the rising senior class is the strongest in state history, Georgia Tech has plucked its second backyard talent. The first was Chris Bolden of North Gwinnett High School (Ga.).
Hunt, a top 100 talent in America, averaged 26.7 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks as a junior last year at North Clayton. Landing the highest rated perimeter player in the state is a testament to the fine job Tech’s Brian Gregory and his recruiting staff have done. “Georgia Tech, they got one of the top recruits in the state, as well as the country,” North Clayton basketball coach Martisse Troup told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I feel like Marcus will do well at Georgia Tech. We have had a couple of football players from North Clayton go on to Georgia Tech. I think Marcus is going to do well at Georgia Tech.” Look for the 210 pound wing to make a case for early playing time with his unselfishness on the floor during the 2012-13 season.
