UCLA Looking to Add 2nd Georgia Gem

William “Shaq” Goodwin

After landing Oak Hill Academy swingman Jordan Adams this week, many people believe the pipeline from Georgia to UCLA has opened up completely…with Shaq Goodwin being the next top recruit set to commit to the Bruins. However, that is not the case. The 6-foot-8 power forward from Southwest DeKalb High School was quick to refute the rumors. “I haven’t decided anything,” Goodwin told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. However, some pressure is already being put on him to pack his bags for the West Coast.

After the four-star guard Adams committed to UCLA, he made sure he gave a shout-out to his long time friend and AAU teammate Goodwin. “I want Shaq Goodwin to come with me [to UCLA],” said Adams, the former Central Gwinnett(Ga.) shooting guard who transferred to Oak Hill (Va.) prep school last year. More pressure to head cross-country could come from Goodwin and Adam’s old AAU coach and now UCLA Assistant Coach Korey McCray…and Shaq is quick to admit they have an advantage because of their newly minted coach. “It will be a little bit of a factor, he’s the reason I got most of my looks from the colleges,” Goodwin said. “But I don’t think it would be the only reason for me to go there, if I picked UCLA.”  This summer, he is looking to take two unofficial visits, to UCLA and Memphis.
