Recruits Hearing That Tubby Will Return

Around this time of year while most recruits are getting ready to watch March Madness some begin to take notice of what is going on with the coaching carousel that happens every year. This year is no different with the talks of some big time school’s opening up Minnesota coach Tubby Smith name seems to always pop up around this time.

Minnesota signee junior college guard Justin Welch (Yuba Junior College Yuba, CA) was told by Minnesota assistants, that Smith is set on returning.

“(Assistants) told me the rumors come up that he is going somewhere every year,” Welch said. “They told me Tubby’s not going anywhere, and that type of thing. But I’m definitely going to talk to coach Smith about it. As far as I know, he’s not going to leave. But you never know what could happen in the future though.” Welch told TwinCities.com

Do I believe Tubby will return, honestly I have no clue but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tubby looks at the Georgia Tech or Tennessee job if they both open up.
