Recruiting: What If The Played Football

With the high school football signing day tomorrow we decided to have a little fun and pick out 6 players in the 2011 class that we think might be able to play little pigskin themselves.

Quarterback

Myck Kabango (Texas commit)  - If I had to put Kabango on the football field I would definitely have him as my quarterback, reason being on the court he’s always under control, leads his team  and can make the pass to open player at any time. Especially since we run a spread or we would run a spread offense I would need a QB that is not only quick but can play under pressure in the spotlight on him. With him playing a national schedule at Findlay prep I know Kabango will be ready for the bright lights as soon as he steps on campus.

Others that got mentioned at QB were Josiah Turner (Arizona) and Marquis Teague (Kentucky).

Tailback

Jahii Carson (Arizona State commit) – One word to describe him quick, since at C2C Recruiting university we run a spread offense with Carson we would run screen plays so he can take it to the house.  Even though he stands at 5-foot-11 (on his tip toes) once we get Carson in the open field one on one the defender has no chance. Plus Carson is as tough as the come and I’m sure he won’t be afraid to carry the ball up the middle if he needs to.

Others that got mentioned at TB were Quinn Cook (Duke), Myles Mack (Rutgers) and Tony Wroten (Washington)

Wide Receiver

Quincy Miller (Baylor Commit) - After he hits the weights and bulks up a little Miller would be my No. 1 target on the field. Standing at 6-foot-9 with a quick first step thinks of Miller as the second coming of Randy Moss. Miller has nice hands, he also has the attitude of he will do whatever it take to win, plus the kid is flashy (we all know how receivers are flashy).

Others that got mentioned Brad Beal, Amire Garrett and Adonis Thomas

Tight End

Lebryan Nash (Oklahoma State commit)   – Since at my school we would most likely run the spread offense I need a tight end that his tough but also quick on his feet. Right away I thought about Oklahoma state commit Lebryan Nash, the 6-foot-6 Nash would be able to stand up against bigger linebackers but also quick enough to get away with backer when we put him in the slot one on one.

Others that got mentioned James McAdoo, Rakeem Christmas and Adonis Thomas.

Linebacker

Jabari Brown (Oregon Commit) – Brown is smooth on the court but as a linebacker I need somebody that is not only smooth but not afraid to pin his ears back and go after it and that is exactly what Brown does. Watch him play and on open fast break or just about any time he went to the basket he didn’t care who was there he was trying to dunk on them. That’s what I need from my linebacker.

Others that got mentioned Nick Johnson, Wayne Blackshear and PJ Hairston

Safety

Austin Rivers (Duke Commit) – For my safety I needed a hard nose winner, somebody that wouldn’t be an extension of the head coach on the field and Rivers is exactly that. Also with his athletic ability he would still be able to cover quicker smaller receivers and after hitting the weights maybe guard some of the bigger receivers also.

Others that got mentioned Ben McLemore (undecided), Norman Powell (UCLA) and Rodney Hood (Mississippi State)
