Following in his fathers foot steps (Carlton Valentine) 2012 guard Denzel Valentine from J.W. Sexton HS, Lansing (MI) will also attend Michigan State. He picked Michigan State and Tom Izzo over Oakland and Georgetown. Once Michigan State offered it was thought that it was a far gone conclusion that he will pick the Spartans.

“I felt like I just could have the best career there. Being a hometown kid, pretty much it’s the dream school for everybody that lives in the area,” Denzel Valentine said. “I just talked it over with my mom, my brother, my dad. I got every input, how they felt, and pretty much everybody said Michigan State is the place for me.”
Valentine joins a 2012 class that already has a verbal commit from top 50 forward Kenny Kaminski.
