2010 Pangos All-American LIVE Run Down

On Friday and Saturday July 9Th and 10Th, 2010 in Long Beach, CA Dinos Trignos hosted the Pangos All-American LIVE Camp. I was able to attend both days and review some of the West Coast’s top talent.  Many college coaches were in attendance for the camp, including the coach of UCLA,  USC, Texas, Oklahoma, UTEP, Arizona, Gonzaga, Rutgers, Fresno State, Hawaii, Long Beach State and  many small college schools.

Grant Jarrett 6’8″ 2012 Belmont Shore – Forward/Center Grant Jarret was the most intriguing prospect there to me. His ability to go down low an score is nice but now Jarrett has added a jump shot to his game. Just because he added that I love the fact that he doesn’t settle for his jumper like most bigs with one. Jarrett was being followed by just about every coach that I mentioned look for him to have just about every college coach checking in on him.

Jahii Carson 5’11″ 2011 Compton Magic – Point guard Jahii Carson  showed up a day late but didn’t disappoint. From the moment Carson stepped on to the court he showed off a variety of moves, from the jumper to getting to the basket with ease. He also showed off his passing ability and his handling ability. He plays, as one coach said, with another gear from the rest of these kids on the court.  The talk in the gym was whether or not Carson was McDonald All-American type talent. If he continues to play like today, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be considered. On hand to watch Carson play were Ben Howland from UCLA and Sean Miller from Arizona along with everybody else.

Gabe York 6’3″ 2012 Compton Magic – Shooting guard Gabe York is as athletic as they come on the West Coast. Not only does York have the athletic ability to drive past a defender, but he can also pull up from three and hit the jump shot. York caught an alley-opp pass from Jahii Carson that started at half-court and threw it down with ease, showing off his athletic ability. York has the ability to contend for the No 1 spot among the shooting guards in his class on not just a west coast level but on a national level as well.

Spencer Dinwidlle 6’4″ 2011 Double Pump Elite – Shooting guard Spencer Dinwiddie shot the ball really well this weekend. He played more of the combo guard position at the camp.I think it helped because when I watched him I noticed he still needs to work on his ball handling if he wants to play the point guard position at the next level.

Amir Garrett 6’6″ 2011 Belmont Shore – Amir Garrett is slowly climbing up the charts as a top prospect on the national scene. His is a pure athlete that handles that can handle the ball like a lead guard.  he showed off his athletic ability it at this camp with getting to the basket with no problem. Garrett still needs to work on his jumper to make it stay consistent because he can knock it down he just needs to be consistent with it.

David Andoh 6’7″ 2012 St Mary’s High School (Berkley, CA) - Forward David Andoh has the ability to take defenders off the dribble with no problem. He rebounds very well and is a nice on the ball defender using his length against smaller and quicker players to keep up. His game is still raw and needs some polishing, But look for him to be a high major recruit after this summer evaluation.

Skyalr Spencer 6’8″ 2012 Price High School (Los Angeles, CA) – Forward Skylar Spencer has a nice all around game to him. Plays well around the basket and has a high motor. He seems to go after every rebound and has a nice little 15 foot jumper that works for him.

Notes :

Texas head coach Rick Barnes was on hand to watch all of Texas commit DeAndre Daniels game.

2011 point guard Ceazer Guerrero is being heavily recruited by UNLV.

Sean Miller and the Arizona staff was on hand to watch Jahii Carson who the have a offer out on.

Overall this was a great event with lots of talent on hand.
